Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar packed
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar or regular vinegar
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1/4 tsp ginger ground or fresh
  • 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes or more to taste
  • 2 green onions thinly sliced
  • 1/4 tsp sesame seeds optional
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, soy sauce, water, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Mix well and set aside.
  • Heat a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat. Add oil and heat until shimmering.
  • Add ground turkey and cook for 3-4 minutes, undisturbed, to allow it to sear. Stir to break up the turkey, then season with salt and pepper.
  • Add the sauce mixture and cook for 8-10 minutes until most of the liquid evaporates and the meat turns golden brown.
  • Remove from heat, then stir in green onions and sesame seeds.
  • Serve the turkey over rice or enjoy it on its own!

Notes

Customization: Feel free to swap ground turkey for ground beef, chicken, or pork for a different flavor profile.
Optional: Add veggies like carrots, spinach, or mushrooms for added texture and nutrition.
Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave or on the stove.
